The OA, Season 2, Episode 4: “Syzygy”

Details:

  • Episode Number: S02E04,

  • Network: Netflix

  • Time: 43 minutes

  • Synopsis: Karim visits Nina at the clinic for help finding the secret entrance to the house. Meanwhile, Hap meets a fellow traveler, and Homer goes on a date.

Chapter 4 is another frustrating episode where little happens, although Nina finally figures out what’s going on with the Syzygy. Of course, as soon as this question is answered, more questions are brought up, and we meet our most interesting character so far on the show: a sentient octopus. At this point, I’m so frustrated with the characters and plots that I’m just hate-watching to see how it ends. I’m enjoying the story switching back and forth between dimensions 1 and 2. But is it sad that Old Night is now my favorite character on this show filled with inscrutable characters?

Episode Notes: The title of the episode comes from the Syzygy, a club/location where Nina meets the old octopus—and what might be the secret entrance to the house.
